Arizona Inn has hosted many weddings since Isabella Greenway, Arizona's
first Congresswoman, founded her family hotel in 1930.
Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the mid-town resort has
garnered many accolades. Most recently, it is listed as one of the world's
"best hotels" on the Condé Nast Traveller Gold list, also on the "best" list
in the recent Travel and Leisure, and on the top 50 in the Zagat survey of
Small Resorts, Inns and Lodges. Locally, it has repeatedly won the culinary
Silver Spoon award for excellent cuisine.
Reber O'Reilly, the Inn's Director of Catering, confirms that the resort's
historic beauty, luxurious gardens, and tradition of classic service please
the Inn's wedding guests with gratifying regularity. It is the goal of his
staff to exceed expectations and to create and coordinate "the most
memorable" event for every bride and groom.
"I have never felt so like a princess as I did on my wedding day!" So writes
a bride recently married at the Arizona Inn to the catering representative
who had worked so closely with her to plan and orchestrate her event.
The bride writes of the elements that added magic to that special day: the
excitement of gathering with her bridesmaids in the special changing room
before the wedding, then proceeding down the walkway across a terraced lawn
to stand under an arbor in front of a marble fountain ringed with flower
beds, lawns and trees.
The ceremony went even more smoothly than the previous evening's rehearsal.
She loved the intimate old-fashioned courtyard where the guests gathered for
drinks before dinner while her bridal party was being photographed in the
beautiful gardens, and in front of the old Spanish iron gates.
Best of all was the reception, with champagne toasts and dancing in the
elegant ballroom under antique chandeliers, where the food was perfect and
the menu had been specially customized.
The bride mentions the "ideal" suites and rooms her family occupied at the
hotel, where the weekend was as much a family reunion as a wedding. But, her
special thanks were for personal caring service.
"We never wanted for anything!," she writes. "We felt truly pampered.
Everyone was so impressed with the level of service, and the elegant
hospitality the Inn offered." In conclusion, she writes the representative
with grateful affection, "I thank you for setting the stage for what will
always be the most memorable night in both of our lives."
