Elizabeth "Doe" Shamrell
99th BIRTHDAY
July 3rd, 2008
Elizabeth was the youngest of nine children. Growing up in Portsmouth, NH, she met her husband, Anthony Shamrell (deceased), there when he was a Marine at the Portsmouth Naval Prison. They married in 1933. Doe worked 20 years Civil Service for the Department of the Navy then retired with Anthony in Rancho Bernardo, CA. She raised two sons, William and Richard & has a total of six grandchildren. Residing at Fellowship Square here in Tucson, Doe lives independently and enjoyed a celebration in her honor attended by Caroline Shamrell (daughter-in-law), Susan (Shamrell) Shutley and Sally Shamrell (granddaughters), Sean Shutley (great-grandson) and Stefanie (Bart) Parker (great-granddaughter), all from Tucson. Also in attendance were Bill (son) and Donna Shamrell from California, Tom McIntyre from California & Glenn Murphy from Australia. Her other grandchildren are Tim (Anita) Shamrell in Tampa, Tony Shamrell, Jr. and Julie (Shamrell) Cadiz in Las Vegas, Mike (Mandy) Shamrell in Boston. There are also nine great-grandchildren & one great-great granddaughter, Adelle Parker (pictured). Doe feels she has lived a full life, with no regrets. Her secret to her longevity she says is eating a lot of vegetables, walking and a glass of wine at the end of the day. Congratulations and good luck while working on your 100th!
