Janice Schmidt
100th BIRTHDAY
September 21st, 2009
Janice Leona Mardock Schmidt was born on September 21st, 1909 in Wymore, Nebraska. She lived most of her young life in that small town where she received her teaching certificate. She met her future husband, Arnold Schmidt, in 1929 and they were married October 15th of that year. Janice and Arnold spent their first twelve years ranching and farming in Cherry County Nebraska. In 1947 the family, now five, moved to Patagonia, Arizona where Janice was active in the Community Church and taught Sunday School for many years. In 1969 Arnold passed away and some years later she moved to Tucson to reside with her daughter, Kathy Vasquez.
After an illness she moved to a nursing home where she presently lives. Though wheelchair bound Janice does get around and at a surprising rate of speed. She participates in activities and games, loves winning and parties. So Happy 100th Birthday Mom (Kathy and Vicki), Grandma (Michael, Kat, Susan, Ebbie, Jeffrey, Patrick, Craig, Owen and Gail), and Great-Grandma (Gary and Patrick Ryan).
