2008 Florecitas

The 41st annual Fiesta en Xochimilco Ball will take place Saturday, September 6 at the Tucson Convention Center Grand Ballroom, Granada Entrance. The League of Mexican – American Women, a non-profit organization that promotes tradition and culture of Tucson’s young Hispanic women, will present to Tucson 13 young women, the Florecitas of 2008. The ball is the League’s largest event, which raises money for educational scholarships. The girls and their families participated in a Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral on Sunday, August 31st, with Bishop Gerald Kicanas officiating. At the September 6th ball there will be a no-host cocktail hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with El Mariachi Tapatio. The presentation of the 13 Florecitas will be at 7:30 p.m. The band iMas will play from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Alice Eckstrom is the League President, Adrienne Gutierrez is the Florecita Chair and Jo Ann Trujillo is the Ball Chair.
