I had the pleasure of having a manicure and pedicure with Ally at Gadabout this afternoon. I should start by saying that I do not take care of my hands and feet. My hands are always dry and cracking because I wash them at least 20 times a day, and I clean my house regularly with bleach, without using gloves. I know, not very smart.
My nails are short because they break easily. I didn't realize that the bleach wasn't only causing my skin to crack, but my nails as well. Ally did a great job cleaning up my nails, and moisturizing my skin.
My feet were just as bad. I don't like to wear shoes, especially in the summer. I walk to the mailbox in the summer without shoes, and it doesn't really bother me. This obviously isn't a good idea, I just never cared before. This was my first ever pedicure, and I can't believe the difference in my feet. After a quick soak, Ally was tasked with scraping my feet to try to make them as smooth as possible. They are cracked, but not as bad as they have been. I got a sea salt scrub, then a massage with a moisturizer. I decided to go with red polish, which is what I usually use myself. The red looks completely different then when I do it myself. Ally did use a base coat so that the color wouldn't turn my nails yellow.
Ally recommends that you have a manicure and pedicure once a month. I can handle having my feet rubbed once a month.
