Welcome to Newspapers In Education!
We’re an award-winning literacy program, honored by the Arizona Reading Association, Tucson Area Reading Council, and the Newspaper Association of America Foundation!
NIE is committed to promoting reading, literacy and learning through the use of the print and electronic editions of the Arizona Daily Star in K-adult classrooms throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona.
On our website you’ll find lesson plans, curriculum, interactive lessons for students, and special sections.
Interactive activities are updated daily and weekly so be sure to check back often. Just click on the icons below.
The Electronic Edition of the Arizona Daily Star is available!
The E-edition differs from our website azstarnet.com. E-editions are exact replicas of the paper that you can access through your computer. You and your students can view all of the text, photos and advertisements exactly as they are printed in the daily paper. Log onto your computer, scan sections and skim headlines! Use it with a Smart Board. Save, print and send articles with the click of a button! You can even do searches by keyword!
Easy-to-Use. Search by keywords and our 30-day archive and project/print what’s applicable to your lesson plans. New to the e-edition? Just click below for our teacher guide on how to use the electronic edition in your classroom.
Educational. Your E-Edition subscription includes educational content, reading, writing, science and current events as well as access to more than 150 teacher guides.
