Each year, with the support and leadership of the American Nurses Association, one week is set aside to recognize and celebrate nurses across the country. This week concludes on May 10th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of Modern nursing. Since 1994, Tucson nurses have celebrated their professionalism not only in their individual work setting but also in a city-wide celebration, a celebration that has emphasized professionalism, education, research and personal vitality. While every nurse possesses qualities that could fit the description of "fabulous", the 50 nurses each year honored were nominated by their peers, professional colleagues and patients for their professionalism. The fifty nurses honored each year have made contributions in special ways that earned this honor. We salute them and all Tucson nurses for your commitment of the ideals that make nursing a special profession!

+ Fabulous 50 Nurses Award

Nominations are now being accepted for Tucson’s Fabulous Fifty Showcase of Nurses.

Nominate your favorite nurse. That special nurse may be a relative, friend or co-worker. Please submit the name, address and phone number for both you and your nominee along with the E-mail submission form nomination (1000 word limit.) A fabulous 50 RN is required to display actions, which go above and beyond their normal daily job responsibilities. The nomination should cite your nurse’s concern for humanity, examples of significant contribution(s) to nursing, and the Tucson Community, including role modeling and mentoring services for others.

Each year the Tucson Nurses Week Foundation presents exceptional Southern Arizona nurses with several awrds. These awards recognize nurses who go the extra mile with their dedication and exhibit leadership through learning.

+ Cinical Nursing Practice Project Award

The Tucson Nurses Week Foundation is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the Clinical Nursing Practice Project Awards funded entirely by the Fabulous 50 Alumni. This honor will be awarded to a Tucson area Registered nurse who proposes to answer a clinical question or who creates an idea focused on improving patient care or nursing practice within their setting.
