+ Most Inspirational Mentor Award

In honor of our late colleagues Cheryl McGaffic, Barbara Monroe, and Robin Rogers the TNWF will recognize a member of the Tucson nursing community who is an exceptional mentor.

Nominations should be submitted by January 15, 2010.


+ Eligibiltiy Criteria

+ Must have been selected previously as a Fabulous 50 Nurse.

+ ROLE MODEL Exhibited professionalism in terms of nursing knowledge and experience. Provided guidance and direction in applying nursing skills and concepts in patient care.

+ COACH Taught mentees how to set priorities, developed interpersonal skills and guided mentees on patient problems. Provided constructive feedback and recommendations for appropriate patient interventions. Developed a trusting mentor-protege relationship with student.

+ CHALLENGES Provided challenging assignments. Assisted mentee to examine/analyze decisions. Challenged mentee to grow. Encouraged intellectual discussions of current issues and standards of care as they apply to the provision of nursing care.

+ EDUCATOR Gave clear instructions and stated priorities. Consistently reached towards high standards and encouraged the mentee to achieve the same end.

+ COUNSELOR Encouraged mentee to “try new things”. Supported mentee’s progress and helped to tailor strengths of mentee to greatest benefit.

+ ADVOCATE Advocated for the mentee. Assisted with mentee’s socialization into the nursing profession.

+ VISIONARY Helped mentee to develop a picture of what nursing is and can be. Mentor is enthusiastic about opportunities available in nursing. Encouraged mentee to explore issues and develop own ideas and personal philosophy.

Please submit the online nomination form and include all pertinent contact information.

Note:
Please "blind" the nurse's name in the descriptive areas of your nomination. Refer to your nurse in the third person. Example, "She is an outstanding nurse." Not, "Jane is an outsanding nurse."
