Patagonia, Arizona

Jun. 14, 2006 04:04 PM

Called the "Jewel of the Sonoita Valley," Patagonia lies nestled between the Santa Rita Mountains and the red Patagonia Mountains. It's natural beauty, vitality, and moderate year-round climate provide a verdant oasis in the southwestern desert. Patagonia is internationally known as a premier "bird watching" destination; visitors from all over the world come to see over 250 species of rare and exotic birds that migrate from Mexico to this southeastern tip of Arizona. The Nature Conservancy's Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve is an extraordinary stop for hikers and birders, with trails that run along perennial streams. Patagonia Lake State Park, a popular camping and recreational site, is located just seven miles south of town.
