HR Technology Award*
This award recognizes a Human Resources department that utilizes technology that significantly changes and improves the way in which the human resource function strategically impacts the organization.
When applying for or nominating an organization for this award:
- Briefly state what technology was in place prior to the implementation of the new technology change.
- How the technology has significantly changed and improved organizational processes.
- How the technology change provided value to the employee population.
- How the technology change has streamlined business objectives and helped to grow the bottom line.
Trend Setter Award*
This award recognizes a Human Resources department that develops and implements cutting-edge, unique, and progressive program(s) to address identified needs.
When applying for or nominating an organization for this award:
- State the methodology used to identify employee and organizational needs.
- What tools were used to develop and implement any and all programs used to address the identified needs.
- Why this program is innovative and progressive for the organization.
- Why this is a trend or cutting-edge program that can potentially be used by other organizations for many decades to come.

Bocker-Meza Innovation Award
This award was first introduced in 2005 to honor Eve Bocker and Kristyn Meza as the founders of the Workplace Excellence Awards of Greater Tucson. The Bocker-Meza Innovation Award recognizes the exceptional HR practices of a small company with no official Human Resources department.
- When applying for or nominating a small organization with no official HR department for this award, explain the exceptional human resource practices that fulfill the unique needs of the organization’s small workforce, as well as the needs of the business.
SERVICE PARTNER AWARDS
Service Partner Award
In recognition of the efforts of past co-chairs Laurie Becker and Brenda Baca Carper, this award recognizes an external human resources service partner who works hand-in-hand with human resource professionals in implementing their HR strategies and supports the human resource function through day-to-day service(s).
To nominate an external third party service partner for this award, please give the following information:
- Name of Service Partner
- Type of service provided
- How the service partner contributed to the organization in an extra-ordinary way.
- How the service has supported HR strategies
- What value added benefits have come from the service
- How the service has improved human resource functions
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
HR Professional of the Year Award
This award recognizes a human resources professional with fewer than seven years of experience in the HR field; generally without management or supervisory responsibility. The award acknowledges an individual who has made significant contributions to the profession, the organization and/or SHRM-GT in a fairly short time period.
When applying for, or when nominating an individual for this award:
- Describe the HR professional’s role within the organization and a brief summary of the individual’s professional background.
- Provide specific examples which demonstrate the individual’s significant contributions to developing and implementing innovative and creative programs in the workplace, bringing culture change to the organization or providing service to the HR or non-profit communities.
HR Leader of the Year Award
This award recognizes a human resources leader at the manager, director, or executive level who plays a pivotal and strategic people management role within their organization. This award acknowledges an individual with considerable human resources experience and a demonstrated track record of excellence in human resources leadership.
When applying for, or when nominating an individual for this award:
- Describe the HR leader’s role within the organization and a brief summary of the individual’s professional and managerial background.
- Provide specific examples which demonstrate the individual’s achievements and contributions to the organization at the strategic level, and the resulting impact on the organization and the staff.
